About

Welcome to Happenchance, a community for people who create things big, small, or amazing.

Happenchance features creative techniques to help you generate ideas, get unstuck, and do better work. With articles on creativity, writing, memory, focus, motivation, as well as bits about music, travel, and the expat life, you’re sure to find something useful.

About the name: Some things happen by chance, absolutely freakish. We’re born with a sour disposition, the people we’re with make bad decisions, we find a sack of unmarked hundred dollar bills, a piano falls from the sky, whatever. Some things are beyond our control, but other things aren’t. I believe by combining creativity, embracing chance, and valuing hard work, we can all have a chance to make our lives richer, more satisfying, and more fun.

Happenchance.

Make it happen.

About the Publisher (a.k.a. The Blogger with a Fancy Title)

Salutations! I’m Seth M. Baker, the mastermind behind this diabolical site. I started this site while living in Seoul, South Korea. I’ve since returned to the backwoods  of Appalachia.

For the past decade,  I’ve been entertaining myself with fiction and songwriting. I’ve written a couple albums worth of material, mostly unrecorded, about twenty short stories as well as three novel drafts.

These are hobbies I love. They keep me sane. I’d like to think I’ve learned a few things along the way.

Eventually these projects will be ready to share with the world, but until then, the act of creating them is enough. Every act of creation is an adventure, and each adventure is just one part of my journey. Happenchance.net  is my little way of sharing this journey with the world.

I’m no expert. I’m no guru. I’m just a guy who loves art, music, writing, and language.

If I had a motto, it might be “Every failure is an education.”

As always, thanks for reading. I look forward to hearing from you!

~Seth

Congrats, Seth. I’m just a woman who loves writing, art and music, too. Bless you and wife to teach English to Korean kids. It’s so beautiful! Literary hug.
